Soooo...I would have gotten $33 and some change last month and $44 something this month. I have a 4 bedroom, 2 story house and I leave my kitchen light on night and day. The main upstairs bathroom light on all night and keep my house set to 68 degrees 24/7.
My friend lives RIGHT down the road in a 2 bedroom duplex and the only things she runs at night is her kitchen light and a music thing for her baby.
Me and my neighbor are going to have housing come look at ours. Because neither of us run very much and their trying to say the both of us owe like 70 a month, on the mock billing system.
Family size? more people, higher base line? Candy has no children and Stacy has 2.
Is it size of the family or the house? My friend had her daughter and didn't want to pay to move so she is in a 2 bedroom with 2 kids. Candy has a 3 bedroom house. Either way they are ripping EVERYONE off with this crap. I have 4 bedrooms but tech. only 2 kids. and id get 40 bucks back.
AND what rank should matter if anything. Our other friend's husband is an E6 i think and they have a tiny duplex and their BAH is alot more than mine!! Their mock bill was insane. Theyd owe a fuk ton....its NOT a good system.
Rhi thats why i was so mad when i lived on post, i wouldnt mind moving back mainly bc the hospital which i pretty much am a live-in is right there plus the commissary bank etc would be a lot closer, but i hate the way housing is set up. 888$ a month for the same house someone else is paying less makes me mad, plus diff rank housing has more rooms or fenced in backyard or you know extra stuff and yet we where paying more for less room, less extras ? yeah not right imo, but hey thats the way shyt works over here, retarded but true. Oh and dont try talking to housing about it, you're going to be the bad one at the end, plus talking about it on here just gets housings little snitch off bc she finally got something to take up there.
if i were renting this POS house off post, i wouldn't pay a dime more than 600 a month for it. leaving $236 or something for water and electric. Thats MORE than enough for them to stfu and not charge people more.
You said you have a 4 bedroom 2 story house...I dont know anywhere where rent would be that cheap for that big of a house. Even what you are paying now.
Grr... I just typed out a response and as I was finishing my attention whore of a kitten jumped on my keyboard and closed out the screen.
In short. Contest it with housing and request an inspection. If they dont listen hire a private housing inspector, which does cost some pennies. He will most likely find poor insulation issues and little to no sealant on the windows and doors causing the air/heat unit to work double time. If the report finds fault with the housing take to the primary manager at the main housing office. If they still show no concern take the report to IG. Housing use to have an OIC you could take your complaints to but that was years ago and I dont know if they still do.
Mabes I don't want you to move back on post--you'd be too far away =[ lol I like you being right across the road sorta...much easier to randomly come over that way. =]
Viny, I moved off post because my house was infested with termites. I moved off post, signed a one year lease, when it was up, i moved back on post. id be getting money BACK, im not b!tching for me, i just dont understand how the mock works.
You said you have a 4 bedroom 2 story house...I dont know anywhere where rent would be that cheap for that big of a house.
It took me over a year to find a 4 br for under $1000 (that is not in the downtown or really ghetto areas). You could never live off post in a house that size for BAH ($800-900). Our rent, electricity, and water averages $1100-$1200 and will be about $1450 once we move.
I do not think it is worth living on post. Our BAH is way above most peoples rent. And utility's never are to high. You loose out way to much money living on post and now they charge for overuse of utility's, that is just ridiculous.
My mortgage is 811...our electric + water normally runs about 230-240 at least. We would actually save a good bit of money living on post. On post they take your BAH..yes...BUT if all you are having to pay on top of that is a measely $20 or some crap for utilities then you should consider yourself lucky that is all you are paying. You save money living on post. Nobody off post would rent you a decent house of any size & provide pretty much all of your electricity/water/trash for that. No way in hel1. I guess that's why it's irritating when people whine about that tiny $20 they have to pay for power. .If you don't like it, move off post. Youll run back ASAP.
My water bill is 30, 70 at the most ever. I just took a mortgage out on my house for 80,000 and my payments are 433 a month. My electricity is 120 a month and 180 at the most and we keep our house on 70 yr around. You just need to be making sure you are not living above your means.
We prefer living off post. We dont live beyond out means. We have our mortgage, our electric which runs about 180 during the summer months unless its super hot then has risen to around 220 a few times. We have vaulted ceilings in multiple rooms which takes more energy to fill the space. During the winter, spring and fall our electric is only about 60-80.
We have a gas stove and furnace. During the winter my gas bill is about 50 dollars and the rest of the year its about 25. My water has never gone over 30 dollars and thats with 4 people plus a sprinkler system that runs every morning and night.
Our BAH covers the mortgage and part of the utilities unless a line in my sprinkler system breaks and I get a random bill of 400 and something like last spring. :| With the size of our home I cant complain about our utilities.
my water bill during the summer is usually around $200. Because we clean kennels, dog baths and the kennels have a misting system that stays on 24/7. plus all 5 of us. my bill just got down to 120 which is where it will stay at throughout the winter. my electric is usually 270 if not more during the summer and around 300 and up during the winter. ive paid a 500 electric bill a couple years ago when everyone got slammed for that spill. our bah doesnt come close to being enough lol oh well
I have a 3bed 2bath, fenced in yard, with a shed, no garage and pay $700 a month. Our electric runs $115-$180 and our water runs $60-$90. Usually if it's high it means we had weekend or weeklong guests from out of town.
My sister, who also lives in Oak Grove, has a 3bed 2bath and pays $725. She has no fence, no shed but does have a garage. Our houses are about the same size and her electric runs $200-$320 (thats the highest its ever been), her water runs $90-$160. It's her, her husband, a 6year old and a 2.5year old.
