Who is the best place to get taxes done we always used jackson hewitt because my mom worked there and now she doesnt so were debating if were going to continue using them or if theres somewhere better.. any suggestions?? we also heard that military can get free turbo tax but we bought a house and we qualify for the home tax credit and we dont know if we can do that ourselves on turbo tax..

Yes, Turbo Tax has done it every year I have done our taxes. I normally google military turbo tax and it comes up. Turbo Tax is a big questionaire. Its really simple to do. You can try it out yourself without committing to sending it. I use HR Block calculator for an idea of what the return will be and see if Turbo Tax matches up with it. 

how long does it take to get your refund from turbo tax and can we do direct deposit with it??? 

It normally takes 2 weeks or so. Yes you can do direct deposit. Thats what we always do. I have done it for 4 years with no problems 

If you are not sure if your right on the taxes if you do them yourself, you can always take your last les or paystub over to Jackson Hewitt and they can give you an estimate for free. 

The IRS only deposits the money direct deposits on fridays for the taxes.

I did direct deposit. It should take 2 days to be accepted by the IRS, then take 8-10 days to be deposited. 

do i buy it or does the military get it for free ive searched military turbo tax and just get faq's no link to actually use it. my husbands home of record is california so i have to also claim his state tax.. im really nervous about doing it myself but jackson hewitt and h & r block quoted me around 300 to file.

goes to show what a moron you are. its a system created for smart people. i guess there has to be stupid people to make us smart folk look good.

Same thing with us Elizabeth. We used one of those programs and I even paid the extra small fee to have someone make sure to look it over and check everything but we still got screwd and here I thought I would save ourselves abt. $100 by doing it that way instead of going to H&R like we normally do. I like the lady we've been going to for several years now, she gives AWESOME advice and she knows what she's doing plus she's been with H&R for over 10 yrs. 

hummmm... its a do it yourself thing, granted they look it over, but you got to know what youre doing. if you are familiar with doing taxes turbo tax is aweome, if you suck at math and are a boob then id say pay the extra $ and let the jackassssses do it for you. either way, you still got screwed. h r block is one of the worst ones that screw you over. they dont give a crap about finding the deductions granted they do it "right" but ... they dont put any extra effort into finding more of your money. because no matter what they still make theirs.

You can file an amendment and get those thousands of dollars. It's easy to do. Make sure that you wait until this years taxes are settled or you may have to wait for your refund until the amendment is settled. 

I really like Turbo Tax. It is so quick and easy. We get our money back in less than 2 weeks. :)

We definitely filed an amendment. We did everything right with the Turbo Tax but it still didn't seem right so I plugged it in to Tax Act online which my mom always uses and is free and that's how I found out we would get thousands more. That was a few years ago, but the next year our taxes were kind of complex because we were trying to do more than just regular filing and it was a nightmare so that's why we now opt to pay. The people that helped us at H&R block were really nice and helpful, we had no problems with them.

no actually it's because we were trying to file for childcare expenses that we incurred while my brother and SIL watched our son while we both worked and they refused to give us their social security number because they didn't file the extra income and didn't want to get screwed out of their money, so screwed us over instead. you're an idiot. 

So how is that Turbotax's fault? Sounds like a simple case of your family cheating on their taxes and not claiming income. 

You read wrong, those were completely different years. Turbo Tax was used for plain old regular taxes and sucked.
