One of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's sons, Saif al-Arab Gadhafi, was killed in a NATO airstrike, a government spokesman said Sunday. The victim is a brother of Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, who has emerged in recent months as one of his father's most visible defenders.

I'm still trying to figure out why we're conducting combat operations in Libya and how long it will be before we get maneuvered into Syria under the guise of NATO or the UN. Meanwhile, in Ivory Coast...

Major Tom (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

ummmmm, ok

Kara --- 14 years ago -

Why Lybia and not Egypt? Why is NATO getting involved on this one? Is it because there are supposedly more civilians getting killed? I don't get it, enlighten me.

Major Tom (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

Lybia's uprising turned into and armed conflict and for some reason NATO took sides with the "rebels", whoever they are. Who's to say the rebels won't be worse than the current leaders. I'm sure there is some unkown dynamic that makes it all ok. I just don't get it.

I would hate the Muslim Brotherhood to take over in Egypt...NOT GOOD.

Georgia Girl (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

Kara and Gary... I have mixed feelings actually about the Libya thing. I mean I get why, stability and all that.. but is there really ever going to be stability in the middle eastern and africa nations?

Major Tom (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

There never has been nor will there ever be peace and stability in much of the region. Just the nature of things. many may disagree but this part of the world was much better off under colonial rule by European nations. True, the colonies were exploited but it was never as bad as it has been in the last few decades.

Georgia Girl (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

Gary that is an interesting thought...I do have to ask.. because I am not sure... Do you mean the states or the that part of the world?

Major Tom (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

That part of the world. not that many years ago most of Africa was ruled by Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, etc. Its only after they became independent countries that things fell apart

Georgia Girl (Mod) --- 14 years ago -

I agree with you. I was a bit confused because at one time, we were also ruled by Great Britain. :) Brain is fuzzy tonight. So much is fueled by drugs and the diamond trade.

Now African Rebels hijack the relief efforts and the donated food and use it as means of control.

The whole region is just a poopy place.
